About the Conference

Changes this Year

We are continuing to tweak the formula based upon feedback to bring you the absolute best conference experience possible! One obvious change this year is the venue. While we loved the venue we started at, over the years it’s proven to be a bit too big for our conference, and breaks our attendees up over multiple sections of the venue.  This year we’ve changed locations to bring a closer experience, enhancing the networking opportunities.

We have more changes planned as well, stay tuned to see what they all will be!

The Venue

So this year we’ve upgraded to the Westin Washington Dulles Airport, a beautiful venue located right next to IAD airport, making it extremely easy for our guests from out of the area to join us. They also offer shuttle access from the Wiehle–Reston East Metro Station on the Silver Line for people commuting from D.C. and have plenty of free parking for our guests who wish to drive in.

Why php[world]?

PHP as a language and a community has been rapidly changing in the last few years. A staggering 83% of the Web runs on PHP, and those websites are built on frameworks such as Drupal, WordPress, Magento, Symfony, ZF and Laravel, each of which has their own strong community. We created a conference designed to appeal to all these communities and bring them together. Hence, php[world] was born. An event intended to bring the entire world of PHP together in one place, to encourage cross-pollination of ideas and sharing of ideals.

It proved a success as these communities came together, worked, shared information, held an impromptu PHP-FIG meeting and much more. We plan to keep this conference running for the foreseeable future!

More to come…

Stay tuned as we share more updates in the future. Follow us at @phparch on Twitter for timely updates about php[world]. Our official hashtag is #phpworld.
